School Accountability Report

The School Accountability Reports original legislation, S.B. 00-186, directed the Colorado Department of Education to develop a state reporting system to compile objective indicators of every public school’s academic performance. It also called for the reports to be made readily accessible to parents and taxpayers in order to help them make informed choices that will enable all children to have a quality education. The School Accountability report is essentially a “report card” that is produced by the state for each of its public schools. This report card is intended to serve two purposes:

  1. Allow the Colorado Department of Education to monitor the progress of each of the public schools in the state.
  2. Allow parents and taxpayers to be informed as to the performance of the schools of their particular interest.

The school accountability reports are produced at the end of each fiscal year and report on the previous school year. The reports include information in the following categories:

  • Safety and School Environment
  • District Taxpayer’s Report
  • Student Performance (CSAP and ACT)
  • Overall Academic Performance Rating
  • Details Regarding Staff Qualifications and Student/Staff ratios
  • School Performance Summary Ratings

We have placed links to each of the School Accountability Reports below. In addition, we have included links to documents titled “Points of Interest”. The “Points of Interest” documents provide some additional information and explanation of the information that is included in each accountability report. We invite you to review the accountability reports below as well as the points of interest that are provided for each.”
